Family Specialty Camp Scholarships

The Jewish Community Federation provides needs-based scholarships for Jewish children who live in the San Francisco Bay Area to attend a qualified family specialty camp.

JCF specialty camp scholarships are intended to provide “last resort” community resources above and beyond what is contributed by families and individual camps.

How to apply

Scholarship applicants for the Grief and Growing Family Camp must apply directly through the Bay Area Jewish Healing Center by contacting Rabbi Eric Weiss at eweiss@ioaging.org.

There is no single deadline for specialty camp applications, as these camps are held throughout the year. Families may apply for scholarships through a single application.

Applications must be submitted 12 weeks prior to the start of a camp. Apply online now.

Families may only apply for one specialty camp a year with this application.

Eligible camps

Family specialty camps offered by Camp Tawonga, Camp Newman and Camp Ramah are eligible for scholarships, as well as Jewish LearningWorks' sponsored Special Needs Family Camp (held at Camp Newman), and the Bay Area Jewish Healing Center Grief and Growing Camp (held at both Newman and Tawonga).

Scholarship award process

All online application data is held strictly confidential and reviewed without any identifying information (anonymously) by JCF’s Scholarship Committee, which determines awards based on financial need. Applicants and camps will be notified no later than two weeks prior to camp commencement, and award checks made out to the camp will be sent to families to forward to the camp. Grief and Growing applicants will be notified by the Healing Center.
