The Bay Area’s high cost of living has pushed educational opportunities and Jewish experiences out of reach for many young people in our community. In response, the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund has more than twenty funds and foundations that support academic and enrichment scholarships, from preschool to college, teen Israel trips, and youth and family camps.
JCF's scholarships: expanding opportunities
JCF awards need-based scholarships for Jewish schools and camps, first-time teen trips to Israel and college, with one or more of the following goals:
To provide community assistance to Jewish families in financial need
To make Jewish education and experiences more accessible to families in our community
To give Jewish donors an effective vehicle to help young people afford life-changing educational experiences
To provide donors with greater accountability in their giving and broader reach to Jewish institutions throughout the Bay Area to insure scholarship dollars reach families with the most urgent needs
JCF awards scholarships in two ways:
Block grants to qualified preschools, day schools, day camps and two local overnight camps (Camp Tawonga and URJ Camp Newman). Families should apply directly to institutions for these scholarships.
Direct scholarships for college, first-time teen Israel trips, family specialty camps, and overnight camps other than Tawonga and Newman. Applicants should apply online through our website for these scholarships
