Shanghai Ghetto Refugee to Speak at Yom Hashoah Service

Yom Hashoah/Holocaust Remembrance Day Service

Walter Gewing, fled Austria in 1938 for the Shanghai Ghetto, and from there found his way to San Francisco. He will tell the story of his journey at Congregation Beth Emek’s Yom Hashoah/Holocaust Remembrance Day service on Sunday, May 5 at 7:00 pm.

Walter’s journey is remarkable. All are welcome, as he shares the extraordinary events of his life.

Congregation Beth Emek’s Yom Hashoah service includes prayer, poetry, music, and the lighting of memorial candles in memory of the victims of the Holocaust. The service is appropriate for adults and students.
