Scope & Deliverables

Beth Ami Community Nursery School (BACNS) is the only Jewish pre-school north of Petaluma, in Sonoma County, serving families from Healdsburg, Windsor, Sebastopol, Santa Rosa and surrounding countryside.

Currently, BACNS is implementing recommendations from an assessment initiated to determine the reasons for the school’s low percentage (25%) of Jewish families enrolled in the last several years. The data showed that the major barriers faced by Jewish families who wanted to send their children to BACNS were accessibility issues for working families.

Therefore, BACNS is making significant changes regarding hours, days, new programs, new staff. We want the community to know about the changes and are seeking marketing advice to develop a strategy, verbiage, materials and to launch a marketing campaign to attract more Jewish/working families.

The desired deliverables would be a professionally designed, effective marketing strategy and campaign complete with all that is needed to attract Jewish/working families: such as social and current print media, new brochure, functional and timely webpages -- an exciting campaign to alert the Jewish community to the significant changes BACNS made to become much more accessible. There might even be areas we should develop that we haven't thought of. We are excited about the possibilities!

Organization Description

Beth Ami Community Nursery School is a program of Congregation Beth Ami, a Conservative synagogue located in Santa Rosa. The school provides quality early childhood education, extended day care, enrichment classes, and holiday camps for children ages 2 - 5 (approximately 60 families). Its purpose is to serve the Jewish community regardless of affiliation or lack thereof. At the same time, BACNS is respectful of and welcomes all religions and families. Hallmarks of the school include low teacher/student ratios, longevity of staff, an active Parent Advisory Committee, and a newly conceived pre-Kindergarten class.

Project Results

The benefits to BACNS would be enrollment of more Jewish families, better serving the Jewish community -- the original purpose for founding the school 36 years ago. BACNS would have more Jewish families on our campus and more Jewish families connecting with one another and the organized Jewish community. Preschool is often the gateway for young Jewish families entering or re-entering the Jewish community. A more accessible Jewish preschool will help build and maintain a stronger Jewish community in Sonoma County!

Required Skills/Experience

Marketing strategy development and implementation (including advice on materials, tracking  effectiveness, etc.)
All areas of creatively marketing a "new and improved" product

Ability to work with a small team and teach/train team to replicate and maintain project
Ability to understand the marketing needs of a Jewish preschool
