Scope & Deliverables

Jewish Kids Groups (JKG) has worked with a financial guru to establish a five-year pro forma model of our business and growth plan that includes multiple variables. However, the excel model isn't easy to manipulate; therefore, the Executive Director, who works with the spreadsheet, can't access the data efficiently.  For examples, sometimes prospective funders want specific data or want quantifiable answers to questions such as, "What is the cost to open a new site, expand the existing program or grow the staff?"  JKG currently has a budget of $1,084,000, runs two  programs at three sites, and employs five FT and 50 PT staff.

JKGs seeks a pro bono consultant who can: 1) upgrade this business model/pro forma so that it can calculate responses that consider fixed, variable, administrative and program costs and 2) train the Executive Director to manipulate the model.

Project Results

Having a functional pro-forma will position the Executive Director to raise the philanthropic resources JKG requires to scale. Furthermore, it will offer the organization a more nuanced perspective into our business which will inform our growth plan.

Organization Description

JKG is a re-imagined, re-invented, and ridiculously cool new Hebrew school model, piloting in Atlanta, Georgia. We educate and inspire kids - in a way that feels like camp - engendering positive Jewish identity and friendships. In the short term, JKG will serve 1,400 students before scaling a national network. JKG was selected for the 2015 Upstart Accelerator and named "one of the most innovative Jewish organizations in North America" by Slingshot '15-'16!
