We have been teaching the history of Israel as a place for the past 70 years. At the same time we are losing our grasp of the concept from which Israel formed. This Yom Ha-Atzma’ut Seder we will join together to rebuild that loss and revive our memory of the intentions behind Israel’s creation.

For thousands of years Jews yearned and dreamt of Israel, generations of Jews dreamt of the idea of Israel because they had never been to the place. Over the generations Israel became as much an idea as it did a place. Now after 1,942 years WE are the generation blessed with being able to celebrate the idea as well as the place.

At a Passover Seder, we reabsorb our memory of being slaves and internalize how we are supposed to approach the world. This Yom Ha-Atzma’ut, we will share a unique Seder experience that will remind us that Israel is more than a place. On April 26th, join in evoking deep memories of Israel and take a walk through our communal history. The foundation we lay with this special Seder recaptures the utopic vision seen by the world when Israel came into being. Jerusalem or Yerushalayim is more than a place it is Ir Shalom, the city of peace. Please come and celebrate this unique moment in time.
