Featuring Inspirational Keynote Speaker, Geri Palast.

Geri D. Palast is the Managing Director of the Israel Action Network, leading its initiative to train, educate, organize and mobilize a broad range of groups to counter efforts to delegitimize Israel and to advance the two state solution and peace in the Middle East.

Throughout her career, Palast has garnered extensive experience in organizing and directing numerous broad-based national and grassroots legislative and issue campaign.

As Executive Director of the Campaign for Fiscal Equity, she garnered landmark litigation which established the constitutional right to a sound basic education for all public school students in New York State and ordered the state to provide the necessary resources and accountability to achieve those results.

As Assistant Secretary of Labor for Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs, Palast led the successful policy and legislative efforts to enact the minimum wage increase, the Workforce Investment Act , Welfare to Work, School to Work, and the historic congressional ratification of the International Labor Organization international convention against abusive child labor.

She also founded and co-chaired the bipartisan coalition that was responsible for enacting the landmark Family and Medical Leave Act in 1993.

Palast is an attorney, a Root-Tilden Public Service Law Scholar from NYU School of Law, and an honors graduate of Stanford University. When she’s not leading political and social policy-making, Palast finds time to follow her passion for performing.

The Israel Action Network (IAN) is a strategic initiative of the Jewish Federations of North America, in partnership with the Jewish Council for Public Affairs to counter the assault on Israel’s legitimacy. Israel today faces an intensive and increasingly sophisticated assault on its right to exist as a sovereign democratic Jewish state. The IAN was created to educate, organize and mobilize the organized North American Jewish community to develop strategic approaches to countering these assaults. IAN's work is grounded in building strong relationships with people of faith, human rights advocates, political and civic leaders, and friends and neighbors in our communities. With the help of these allies, we can develop a broader understanding of Israel and Israelis. www.IsraelActionNetwork.org.
