Celebrating New Israel Fund’s International Board meeting in San Francisco
Monday, June 25, 2012 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
San Francisco’s Four Seasons Hotel • 757 Market Street, San Francisco (Map)
Dear Friends of New Israel Fund,

We are excited to invite you to participate in the New Israel Fund’s annual Guardian of Democracy Dinner. This year marks the chai (18th) anniversary of the dinner and coincides with NIF’s international board meeting convening specially in San Francisco, NIF’s founding city.

The Dinner is different this year. As we honor outgoing president Dr. Naomi Chazan and welcome incoming chair Rabbi Brian Lurie, the presence of more than 80 International Council and Board members and staff at the dinner provides an opportunity to gain insights and perspectives, to learn about NIF’s ground-breaking work on behalf of progressive, civil society and to support this work in Israel.

Our outgoing president, Naomi Chazan, is a leading human right activist, distinguished academic and former Deputy Speaker of the Israeli Knesset. She has spent her career giving her heart and soul to the cause of a democratic Israel, often at great sacrifice. Naomi has taken the New Israel Fund through the most controversial and high profile four years of its existence, providing a clear and outspoken voice for democratic and pluralistic values.

Our incoming chair Rabbi Brian Lurie has spent his career in Jewish communal service on the local, national and international level. As a longtime leader of the Jewish community Brian considers his service to the New Israel Fund to be the capstone of his distinguished career. For more than 30 years NIF has lead the social change movement in Israel. At the forefront of women's and LGBT rights, religious pluralism and tolerance, civil and human rights, NIF has founded, funded or counseled every significant progressive organization in Israel.

Because of NIF, Israel boasts a vibrant community of leaders and organizations that pursue social justice and equality, and that give a voice to the disadvantaged. Please support NIF by joining us at the chai anniversary dinner on June 25.

Thank you in advance for your participation.

Yours Truly,
William S. Goldman
International Board Member

Michael W. Bien

P.S. Gifts at or above the $1,000 level include an invitation to a special reception with the honorees and board of directors.
