Partnership = 1 pioneering program + 5 synagogues + 100’s of helping hands
At five Bay Area synagogues BJE’s NESS program is transforming religious school education. Synagogue school directors, educators, clergy, families and lay leaders deconstructed their programs, and together with BJE’s guidance built unique religious schools. Each school’s curriculum incorporates their synagogue’s core values and missions, igniting a continuous, shared conversation throughout the synagogue community.BJE brings together funders, educators, institutions and individuals to create and deliver groundbreaking education. We support educators with cutting edge technology and state of the art professional development. Our Special Needs Initiative, Israel Education Program and Synagogue Schools program are recognized for their innovative and inclusive approaches toward learning; our Feasts of Jewish Learning offer similarly dynamic learning opportunities for their parents, and for young adults.
NESS is a project of the BJE, modeled on a program created by the Auerback Central Agency for Jewish Education in Philadelphia, and made possible through the generous support of the Jewish Community Endowment Fund, the Annual Campaign of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties, the Koret Foundation and PELIE.
