Philanthropic Education

Informed judgments lead to wiser philanthropy.

To keep you informed of cutting-edge developments, funding opportunities, and networking events, we offer a series of educational webinars, seminars, and philanthropic workshops to deepen your knowledge of philanthropic issues. We also convene opportunities for you to meet and speak directly to other like-minded philanthropists and community thought-leaders.

By hosting a variety of educational events and online tutorials throughout the year, we present engaging lectures, dynamic panels, and seasoned experts from around the country who provide fresh insight on strategies for individuals and families on how to maximize their charitable giving. Some examples of our programs:

Day of Philanthropy

This signature Federation event brings together donors, leaders, and professionals to explore personal, technical and cutting-edge issues that impact philanthropy today. It’s an opportunity to learn, connect, and celebrate our collective impact. The  event includes a community luncheon honoring local leaders, keynote speakers and workshops/roundtables.

Workshops

Explore and discuss your philanthropic practice and strategy in a small group setting. Through self-assessment and discussion with peers, you can develop a thoughtful approach to your philanthropy that aligns your values with your goals and addresses some of these questions:

  • Who is involved with your philanthropic giving?
  • Is it better to make larger gifts to fewer causes or small gifts to many causes?
  • Should you invest in grassroots organizations or larger agencies with long track records?
  • Maximize your resources, connect with our in-house experts, and enjoy a learning experience among like-minded funders.

Learn with your family*

Whether it’s facilitating a family meeting or engaging around holiday gatherings, we can help you put together a meaningful, age-specific philanthropic experience for your family. From mini grant rounds to identifying a philanthropic mission, we steward you through the process of topic-specific research and capturing your story.

*The first meeting is complimentary and provided as part of your fund holder services. Specially designed workshops or meetings to fit your philanthropic goals are available, and fees for those services vary.

Jewish Women’s Fund

The Jewish Women’s Fund of the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund provides an in-depth philanthropic experience for 27 women (who have dedicated $10,000 each) to go beyond being donors, to become active participants in the entire lifecycle of their philanthropy. From exploring issues that affect girls and women to grantmaking and forming strategic partnerships, the Fund’s goal is to ultimately spark social change.
