Haas / Koshland Memorial Award
The Haas/Koshland Memorial Award was inspired by the enthusiastic commitment of Walter A. Haas, Sr. and Daniel E. Koshland, Sr. to student life at many local colleges and universities and to a lifelong dedication to maintaining the spirit of Israel. This award provides the opportunity for outstanding young people to spend an enriching year in Israel.
In the early years after its establishment in 1982, the award was funded with unrestricted grants from the Jewish Community Endowment Fund. In 1995, in an effort to ensure the permanence of the annual award, family members and friends established the Haas/Koshland Endowment Fund, a restricted fund of the Jewish Community Endowment Fund of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties.
The Haas/Koshland Award will live on in perpetuity thanks to the following: Alison Geballe, Frances and Theordore Geballe, Rhoda and Richard Goldman, Miriam and Peter Haas, Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. (z"l), Daniel Koshland, Jr. (z"l), Shelley and Gordon Geballe, Josephine B.
